How was the Albanian Communist army born and how did it transform over time? In what way did the population face its daily life during the occupation and after the liberation? These questions are responded to by the historical and artistic exhibitions of Bunk’Art 1, inaugurated in November 2014 and ever since then it has become a crucial museum of exceptional importance both inside and outside the country.
The bunker tells the story of the Albanian Ministry of Internal Affairs from 1912 to 1991 and reveals the secrets of ‘Sigurimi’, the political police that the Communist regime of Enver Hoxha used to keep under control the population and persecute its enemies. An educational and engaging journey that keeps alive the memory of the past through research and testimonies finally accessible to all.
